From the shoes we wear on our feet to the high definition televisions in our living room, wearable devices, the sports universe is a breeding ground for technology. Writer and Photographer Rick Limpert will examine this each week on The Tech of Sports – With guests which include athletes, inventors and journalists that cover the intersection of sports and technology.
There were a large number of tech announcements this week and some of them impact the world of sports. Rick also spent the last three days at FarmLinks in Alabama. Farmlinks is part of Pursell Farms, and it is a research and demonstration golf course.
Athletes across the world are taping up—a movement that exploded during the 2012 London Olympics and video of international stars like Serena Williams and David Beckham wearing various forms of tape. Tens of thousands of people worldwide are trained in various forms of taping including Ryan Kendrick, founder of Dynamic Tape and a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist IMS Practitioner whose mission is to reduce the load of the tendons during athletic performance.
Rick is joined by Terry Koehler of SCOR Golf to talk about wedges and specifically SCOR Wedges. Golf Magazine just called SCOR the “highest rated wedges tested for 2013.” Their SCORFit system is the most comprehensive (and first) custom wedge fitting experience in golf.
Karin Korb is a two-time Para-Olympic champion and one of the top wheelchair tennis players in the world. She just returned from a week as one of the instructors at the USTA-ITF Junior Wheelchair Tennis Camp in California. Karin doesn’t let obstacles get in her way, and it’s great to have her on The Tech of Sports.
